Royal visit from Tonga to Germany for James Cook Exhibition There will be an opening of a great exhibition in Bonn this week. The name of the exhibition is "JAMES COOK AND THE DISCOVERY OF THE SOUTH SEA". We received the information that HRH PRINCESS SALOTE PILOLEVU TUITA is unable to attend the opening. Her daughter HON. FREDERICA FATAFEHI LAPAHA TUITA will be coming with Siua Fonua and Maopa to present her. The delegation from Tonga arrived on 24th of August and the itinerary for this group goes from Bonn to Munich and Berlin. The royal delegation will leave Germany on 1st of September. This exhibition will be held in Bonn, the former capital of Western Germany. The venue is "Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" in Bonn and will be opened on 27th of August at the "Museumsplatz". The exibition is open from 28th of August 2009 until 28th of February 2010. More information you can obtain from the website of the Museum: www.kah-bonn.de. There will be over 550 exhibits from the history of the journeys from James Cook and his time. The project was realised in connection with the Institute of Ethnology of the University Göttingen/Germany, the Museum für Völkerkunde, Vienna/Austria and the Historic Museum Bern/Switzerland, where the exhibition will move after Bonn. |
